Review - H&R Tourmaline Ceramic 1" Flat Iron

A lot of you, my wonderful readers, have requested to see more beauty items... problem is, I'm just a tomboy that just happens to be obsessed with nail polish! Haha... On a typical day, I only wear foundation and mascara... only doing eyeshadow, eyeliner and blush when I'm having a date night with the hubby. I wear jeans and t-shirts... most of you would probably be appalled at my wardrobe LMAO...

As far as my hair, if I don't sleep in for work, I usually just do a quick blow dry... My hair is super fine so it takes 5 minutes to flip my head upside down and blow dry it! I never really use product, because my hair gets weighed down by it and it gets greasy really quickly; and I never use my straightener because I HATE the flat iron I have now. It's cheap, and it pulls my hair and it sucks!! But the tomboy in me has never allowed the girlie girl in me to spend the money on a super expensive flat iron... I just spend it on nail polish! Haha.... I have used my friend's CHI, and boy was it nice. So, I was flabbergasted and excited when flatironexperts.com sent me an AMAZING Flat Iron to review for them!

Here's a bit of info on the H&R Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron from Flat Iron Experts website:

Professional H&R Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron is one of the Best Flat Iron sold in the beauty industry today. H&R Flat Iron has all the newest technology that will help you straighten, curl or flip your hair with ease. With the latest Tourmaline and Ceramic Technology this flat iron guarantee smooth and shiny results that will last. H&R Flat iron features a "New Patented Suspended Plate Technology" that prevents pulling of your hair, meaning comfortable and painless styling.

I was super excited when I read this, especially that last part about not pulling your hair... because that is my number one complaint with flat irons!!

They also sent me their Flat Iron Experts Iron Holder and KQC Thermal Shine Spray:

My first thought was how genius the holder is! Why hadn't I seen these before??! Flat Irons have always been a hassle for me because I do my hair at an antique vanity, and I take extra care to not burn the wood. Here's a little peek at my hair and jewelry "station:"

Yep, this is real life... that's my hubby's robe hanging on the door. In retrospect, I probably should've taken it off it's hook... Haha.

Unfortunately, even the shiny, smooth wood was too rough for the suction cups on the iron holder to stick. So I decided to try something that so far seems to be working...

I stuck it on the mirror!! It's been up for a week, and the suction cups aren't showing any sign of letting go. I will probably head to Michael's and grab one of those glass pieces for candles to set on my table and stick it to, just for safety purposes! But for now, this is working great!

You are probably sick of my babblings, so let's get to the results!! (please excuse the shotty photos, My hubby has been working a lot and hasnt been home to take any for me, so I had to self-photograph an I have NEVER been good at it!!)

This is my hair on a typical morning at 6am on my way to work (hence the orange-y sunlight).... I just used my blow dryer and no product. You can see the frizz on the back of my head... and the tips are all sorts of frizzy and all over the place. This is just after brushing it too; you should see it if even the slightest breeze comes by. Frizz-city!

This is me "all done up" for my date night with my hubby (Yea, I put eyeliner on lol! Big night :p... we went and saw Ted... freaking hilarious!). It was mid-afternoon and the sun was too extreme to take it outside (it was 112 outside, the sun is brutal), so I had to take the picture standing at my front door in the shade...

I used the KQC Thermal Shine Spray and it was awesome! It promised to be a lightweight, non-greasy micro mist that eliminates frizz, softens and polishes hair without build-up. I was skeptical, but it didnt disappoint!

I have used a lot of expensive products that promise to be lightweight and non-greasy that end up weighing down my hair and makes it greasy in an hour or two. But the KQC did not make my hair greasy AT ALL... Like, not even a little. I will be getting more of this, because I will be using it everyday from now on.

The H&R Ceramic Flat Iron heated up in just over a minute and it was smooth on my hair. I could barely even feel that it was clamped. And the best part was, it didn't pull a single hair!! This flat iron blew the CHI I've used before out of the water!!

My hair was smooth, and non-frizzy. even my tips were frizz-free, which I don't think has ever happened... And to top it all off, it was a breezy night, and I didn't even reach for the little brush in my purse once!

I HIGHLY recommend all three of the products. flatironexperts.com has a lot of products to choose from, and I may be buying some more of their hair products since the thermal spray was such a success with my hair!!

  1. I have been looking around for a new flat Iron so I am so glad you got this to review as well!! I have super long, naturally curly, thick hair. I've had an FHI (sister brand to CHI) for the last 10 years... Yes I've made it last that long lol. But sadly it's starting to not heat up as fast or keep the heat like it used to. Anyways... I think I'll be shopping their sale verrrrry soon lol. Love your results and glad you enjoyed it... ps I'm the same, tshirt/jeans/barely any make up lol. xo E
